National Apprenticeship Week 2023

In recognition of National Apprenticeship Week (NAW), Stourport High has been host to a variety of talks, assemblies and online sessions for our students. The week began with a delivery from Nicky Scott (Hereford and Worcester Group Training Association) who conducted a comprehensive ‘apprenticeships’ assembly to our year 11 cohort, and an informative talk from Danny Pardoe of Kidderminster College on Tuesday to our Year 8s. Wednesday saw year 9 and 10 receive an assembly from Kim Cook (Worcestershire Apprenticeships) and Sam Elford (CITB) respectively. Thursday proved a highlight with a visit from the BBC ‘Share Your Story’ careers tour with the opportunity to quiz the panellists on a range of local and national career opportunities including the BBC’s new talent schemes and apprenticeships. It was evident throughout the week how keen our students were to learn and reflect on the opportunities apprenticeships could provide to hone skills and knowledge to support the development of rewarding future careers.

Panellists: Tayyib Mahmood – Cinematographer & Studio Manager, Vince McSweeney – Chief Creative Officer at Mc Cann Central & Jess Campbell – Early Years Careers Trainee at the BBC
